My Acne Diary – Introduction
If you are new to my blog let me introduce myself one more time. My name is Genya, I am 26 years old and I have been suffering from really bad acne since my early teens…I think I can safely say that I’ve tried everything what suppose to help, but I did not have much success. Well, that’s until around spring-summer 2014. I still have occasional blemishes, whiteheads and blackheads but skin does not look anywhere near as bad as it used to. Now I feel very confident that I am on the right path and that I actually have almost full control of how my skin looks. Of course there are so many stories and posts on how to get rid of acne, but I think one more story would not hurt . I also hope that it might help my fellow acne sufferers to find their own path towards clear skin!
I would like to make a series of posts about my journey covering different topics like nutrition, skin care and other things that can affect the skin. They will all be posted in the “my acne diary” category on my blog. I will share details of what has helped me, so it’s only my own experience. I have a bit of holistic approach, so there won’t be any science. In my case of acne, science (represented by doctors) failed me badly, hurt my health and destroyed my trust in medical services. I will write from the first person and I really don’t want to give any recommendations, but I hope that some people could relate to my story and find it helpful!
To be honest, there are no big secrets in how my skin got transformed. Many of the points that I will cover are quite trivial. There are some changes that I’ve made to my diet, lifestyle and skin care routine, but the biggest change is in my attitude. I still believe that what helped me the most is that I’ve stopped feeling sorry for myself and I’ve stopped accepting my acne as something that I don’t have any control over. Confidence and can-do attitude were the key in my commitment. Yes, some changes that I will talk about later can seem quite difficult to implement at first. And I really had to let go of some things, I had to reconsider my habits and perception of what is good for me or not. Cause moaning about life and feeling sorry about myself have never brought me anywhere, so it was time for a big change.

As you can see from above pictures, my cheeks, temples and jaw line were the main areas of concern. I still get a couple of blemishes and my forehead is a bit congested with whiteheads. But I feel much happier about my skin, I still try to get rid of scarring. I was quite successful at removing dark post acne spots, but scarring is a bit more difficult to tackle. My skin is still a work in progress and I will share more pictures in the future posts.
I will try to update on the weekly basis and I will make them quite specific. They will mainly focus on different foods and skincare, but there will be some regarding general lifestyle changes too. In the next post I will tell a bit more about my pre story, what acne treatments I’ve tried and how I’ve got on the path I follow now. So stay tuned!
